The Owl was honored keeper of spirits who had passed from one plane to another. The Egyptian, Celtic, and Hindu people held owls as the guardians of the underworld and protector of the dead.
West African and Aboriginal Australian cultures view the owl as a messenger of secrets, kin to sorcerers, as well, as companions to seers, mystics, and medicine people.
