Spring is on it’s way and it’s coming strong, in quick fashion, with 60 Degree Weather in the middle of FEBRUARY! With the the release our S/S 2012 collection “Traveler’s Paradise”, an ode to the Islands and WaterFalls of Dominica to the Coast Shores of The African Coast and right here in Flatbush Brooklyn, I am doing a Weekly Wednesday Edition of “All things Island/Caribbean”. 

Weddy Weddy Wednesday is a nighttime party theme in Jamaica during their week of parties lifestyle. There’s Hot Mondays, Passa Passa Wednesday, Free Up Fridays and a whole list of interesting Titles for Weekly Festives on the Island. As a yoot(youth) in Flatbush, I always wanted to keep up with the newest dance styles. I was deeply involved in DanceHall reggae, at the time, and when there was a new dance out I was on it. I used to cop “Passa Passa” DVD’s at the 2for5 spot on Flatbush Ave. It was like a secret hole-the-wall location. I felt like I needed a passcode to gain entry at times, but once you were in, you had access to all things DanceHall(Vybez Kartel, BeenieMan, Bounty Killa), Cultural Roots(Luciano Barrington Levy), Conscious Reggae(I-Wayne, Richie Spice, Sizzla), DUB( Lee Scratch Perry) to name a few. With $20, I could my $5 Dollar DVD and 2 Cd’s for $5. A spliff and some saltfish and bakes and i was set for the next 3 hrs. Practice Practice!
